Red River Paper releases new papers!

Drew Hendrix at Red River wrote in to say that Red River has three new papers with R2880 profiles: Cordovan Textured Gloss, Paper Canvas, LuxArt Satin Rag. It also seemed that my list of Red River papers was somewhat out of date (my apologies if I missed any reader's email about this, becoming a dad does that to people :-) ). The list is now up to date again! Thanks Drew!

Roeland just found R2880 profiles for Brilliant paper, which seems to be a Calumet brand. After several months of near silence on the R2880 profile front, I've got an inbox full of good tips. Thanks for this one Roeland. More to come later today!

Surprise! Innova profiles released!

Innova just become the last major vendor to add support for the R2880. At Photokina Innova said that they weren't interested in providing profiles, but fortunately for us they changed their minds. In my mind this means that the R2880 is now a fully established printer, with profiles available for all major paper types and vendors. Is my work here done? Big thanks to Christos Andronis (check out his photographs of Greek nature!) for the tip.

Hahnemühle has released profiles for their glossy papers and well as for their lumijet range. That's all their papers accounted for it seems! That still leaves Ilford, who hasn't responded to any queries for information recently, as several readers have reported.

Besides some quick takes on the various headline releases, there is quite a bit of news on the papers and R2880 printing front in the article to. Have a look!

Hahnemuhle profiles and new Epson premiums!

Hahnemühle kept their word and released R2880 profiles in time for Photokina! They are matte only for now. Their representative told me that this is because of the more limited media-choices present for glossy in the R2880 driver, compared to earlier Epson printers. They had to go back and retest everything to find out which choices work to best with which papers, something they others wouldn't have had to do. They are working on it though.

Epson also added a couple of premium profiles. Check the list on the site. They also released a new driver for Windows only. If you tried this driver let me know what the difference are!

Stay tuned for more from Photokina on TaoSpace blog soon (i.e. this weekend).

I'll be at Photokina Cologne tomorrow. Most paper merchants will be exhibiting there, and I'll be sure to badger them about R2880 profiles! Probably I'll write a quick show-report on the regular TaoSpace blog.

Updated site and Tecco:print profiles!

The site has gotten a small face-lift. Each paper manufacturer now has their own "tab" on the page. The one that has been updated last, will be open by default. This should make the page easier to navigate. Let me know what you think and if it is an improvement!

Reader Jochen Baumgartner pointed me towards german paper manufacturer Tecco:print's profiles. They too have a tab.

Just a reminder: if you have any actual experience using certain papers with the R2880 (with or without special profiles) please let me know and I'll post them here to help others.

Epson Premium Profiles

Not sure when these were released, but Epson has put up three profile archives for Matte and Glossy papers as well as Canvases. Each contains ICC profiles for a variety of Epson papers. Visit the profile tracker page for more info!

Sidenote: It appears there are more media-type available for selection in the american driver than there are in the european one. In any case, my driver does not list a variety of media types that Epson's user guide relies on. I will investigate this more later.
